So, it’s been a while since I’ve done any updates on my cooking status! I have kept cooking, which is good, but have done a less thorough job of documenting my journey. Here’s where we are today:

  • I have been cooking regularly. With the exception of taking two weeks off related to travel, I have continued to cook regularly – at least two meals a week, and a couple months ago, upgraded to three meals a week.
  • I’m still cooking via Blue Apron at the moment. The convenience factor of not having to go shopping, along with having a variety of food options to pick from, is hugely valuable. I think I’m likely to continue using a meal plan as my primary source of meal selection for at least the rest of the year.
  • I have taken to tossing together something quick – just frozen pasta, or stuffing mix from a box, stuff like that – rather than ordering takeout. This is a general shift towards using the skills of tossing something on the stove, and making sure it can just become second nature.

Overall, I’m still very pleased with my cooking: it’s become a habit, we’ve created meals we’ve enjoyed, and I’m building up my habits of cooking in ways that I’m happy with. This is probably the single most effective New Years Resolution I’ve ever made.
